Take That's Howard Donald has paid the ultimate tribute to his fellow musician David Bowie, who sadly passed away on 10 January. Howard and his wife Katie have decided to name their newborn son after the Rebel Rebel chart-topper.

Announcing the news on Twitter, Howard wrote: "Bowie Taylan Donald came into this world on Tues 12th Jan. Mummy and daddy suffering sleep deprivation but life is wonderful, he is divine."

Howard Donald and his wife Katie have just celebrated their first wedding anniversary

The couple married on 2 January 2015, with a spokesperson confirming that the bride and groom had said their vows "at a private ceremony for close family and friends".

It later emerged that Katie and Howard had celebrated their nuptials in a two-week wedding extravaganza at Aynhoe Park in Oxfordshire, with guests including Howard's bandmates Gary Barlow, Mark Owen and Jason Orange.

Their baby was born two days after David Bowie died

The 47-year-old, who also has two daughters Grace and Lola from previous relationships, joined celebrities and fans around the world in paying their respects to the late Mr Bowie.

When news broke that the legendary rocker had died after an 18-month secret cancer battle, Howard took to Twitter to express his sadness.

"Feel very honoured that I have a photo of me and Jay with David Bowie when we did TOTP," he tweeted. "What a genius and a great loss. RIP."

A few days later a second statement was released, giving details about a private memorial service.

"The family of David Bowie is currently making arrangements for a private ceremony celebrating the memory of their beloved husband, father and friend," it read. "They ask once again that their privacy be respected at this most sensitive of times. We are overwhelmed by and grateful for the love and support shown throughout the world."
