Celine Dion's brother passes away age 59

It has been a heartbreaking week for Celine Dion. Two days after her beloved husband, René Angélil passed away, it has been announced that her brother Daniel Dion has also died from cancer.The Canadian singer’s representative confirmed the news that her brother had died on Saturday morning. Releasing a statement about the sad news, the family said: "Battling cancer for a few years, it’s in the uttermost discretion and surrounded by his family that Daniel Dion, 59, died today, January 16. He was the eighth child of Thérèse and Adhémar Dion, brother of Celine."

"His last days were in the wonderful care of the doctors and personnel at Maison Adhémar-Dion, a palliative care center in Terrebonne Québec. For those wishing to send flowers, a donation to that organization would be very much appreciated."The news of Daniel’s illness only came to light on Friday when his sister Claudette spoke about his cancer to the Journal of Montreal. "It’s very painful. It’s a matter of days or hours. It looks a lot like René, he had cancer of the throat, tongue and brain. Our family is very experienced [with this type of illness]," she said.The news of her brother’s death comes at a very hard time for Celine Dion, who lost her husband, René Angélil, on Thursday. After a long battle with the cancer, the music mogul passed away in his Las Vegas home alongside his wife.

Thanking fans for their support at this difficult time, Celine took to Facebook page to share a touching tribute about her husband of 21 years."Surrounded by the love of his family and friends, René Angélil passed away on Thursday, January 14, 2016, on the eve of his 74th birthday. He will be remembered as a gentle man, generous and kind, an unprecedented visionary, a modern Pygmalion, a Renaissance man."
