Two days after her beloved husband, René Angélil passed away, it has been announced that her brother Daniel Dion has also died from cancer.The Canadian singer’s representative confirmed the news that her brother had died on Saturday morning. Releasing a statement about the sad news, the family said: "Battling cancer for a few years, it’s in the uttermost discretion and surrounded by his family that Daniel Dion, 59, died today, January 16. He was the eighth child of Thérèse and Adhémar Dion, brother of Celine."

"His last days were in the wonderful care of the doctors and personnel at Maison Adhémar-Dion, a palliative care center in Terrebonne Québec. For those wishing to send flowers, a donation to that organization would be very much appreciated."The news of Daniel’s illness only came to light on Friday when his sister Claudette spoke about his cancer to the Journal of Montreal. "It’s very painful. It’s a matter of days or hours. It looks a lot like René, he had cancer of the throat, tongue and brain. Our family is very experienced [with this type of illness]," she said.The news of her brother’s death comes at a very hard time for Celine Dion, who lost her husband, René Angélil, on Thursday. After a long battle with the cancer, the music mogul passed away in his Las Vegas home alongside his wife.
