Wearing last night's clothes and setting each other off in fits of laughter, Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield just about managed to present This Morning. Just hours before the party-loving duo had attended the National Television Awards where they were crowned the winners of the Best Live Magazine category.

Picking up their award, you could say Holly and Phillip walked home with their trophies – their sixth year running – except that the hardcore pair didn't.

"You may have noticed that we are still wearing the same clothes," said Holly. "Um, I haven't been home yet! I came straight here."

"We are a proper mess," laughed Phillip Schofield

"I can only apologise," said Phillip. "This is the worst I've ever been."

Explaining the stains on their clothes, Phillip revealed: "It's tradition that we go back to Ant [McPartlin's] house and he had the brilliant idea of bringing out Pie Face, the game. But it was tweaked…"

"We added extras!" said Holly. Video footage was then shown of the bubbly blonde getting hit in the face with mustard, piccalilli and mint sauce, whilst Phillip was targeted with chilli sauce.

The pair went to an afterparty at Ant McPartlin's house

"We are a proper mess," laughed Phillip.

"But thank you so much for making this happen, it really does mean the absolute world and we celebrated on behalf of each and every one of you!" said Holly.

After admitting that he didn't think they would win, Phillip thanked the whole This Morning team, saying, "We went to pick it up, but everyone here [in the studio] were the ones that got it."

Their dishevelled appearances were enough to show viewers just how much fun Holly, 34, and Phillip, 53, had had. But the pair also took to Instagram throughout the night of the awards to keep fans updated with their shenanigans.

"Tequilaaaaaa," Phillip wrote alongside a photo of himself, Holly and fellow presenter Rylan Clark sinking shots. Holly shared a similar snap, grimacing as she posted: "Here we go!!!"

The popular duo also shared pictures kissing their coveted awards, while Holly uploaded a late-night snap with Rylan, writing: "Best way to celebrate...@rylanclarkneal and doughnuts!!! Xxx".
