One Direction have got a whole lot of history to reflect on before they embark on their upcoming hiatus. The group have released what could be their final music video for new single History, sharing emotional footage from the entire span of their career that was launched on The X Factor in 2010.
The clip begins with black-and-white X Factor footage from when the band were first put together by the judges, after initially auditioning as solo artists. With former band member Zayn Malik standing at the centre of group, it highlights just how far Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan and Liam Payne have come since their time on the reality show.

Charting the group's journey from unknown teenagers to the world's biggest boy band, the video is sure to bring a tear to the eyes of dedicated Directioners. The three-minute video ends with all four band members walking in separate directions, reflecting the different paths they will each take during their break from the group.
The single, taken from the band's fifth studio album Made in the AM, is set to be One Direction's final release before they begin their planned hiatus. Despite reports that the group will not be reuniting as a band after their time away from the public eye, a representative for the quartet recently told HELLO! that these claims are: "Fabrication and speculation", and that the boys "have already addressed this many, many times."

While the four remaining band members are preparing for a "well-earned break" following a non-stop five-year career, Zayn Malik is preparing to launch his debut solo single Pillow Talk on Friday. The 23-year-old will release his first album in March, and has promised to "let people know what's really going on" following his exit from the band in 2015.
