From Tiny Dancer to I'm Still Standing, Sir Elton John belted out a rendition of his greatest hits alongside James Corden on the chat show host's Carpool Karaoke for The Late, Late Show. The duo saved the best for last when they sang along to Elton's most famous Disney track, Circle of Life.

Channelling a majestic Simba, Elton and James took turns in wearing a furry lion wig and left viewers in hysterics as they threw back their heads and crooned along.

The pair were filming the 11-minute segment in rainy Los Angeles, where Elton opened up about his "amazing" sons and how fatherhood has changed him.

"I love it," said Elton, who has two sons Zachary and Elijah with his husband David Furnish. "They've been amazing. I haven't had one second in Zachary or Elijah's life where I've felt like they've been getting on my nerves.

"I wasn't a sex symbol, so I had fun with my outfits and I just went for it," said Elton

"And I can't believe I'm sitting in the car telling you this, because ten years ago if you'd had told me I'd be telling you this, I would have said, 'You're crazy'.

"But it's changed my life and I thought I was too old to be a dad and no, I'm not too old to be a dad. You're not too old to do anything. And those kids have changed my life, our lives, completely."

"I still have the energy of a 20 year old," he added

Elton, who sported a navy suit and trademark pair of sunglasses, also commented on his extra flamboyant looks in the past. "I was never a lead vocalist, not like Bowie or Jagger," he said. "I was stuck at a piano, which is a nine foot plank, and I wasn't a sex symbol, and so I had fun with my outfits and I just went for it."

The 68-year-old added: "I still have the energy of a 20 year old. And I want to carry on. I don't see the point of setting up shop. Once you stop, you die."

Elton's vivacity is something that he channelled into his new album Wonderful Crazy Night, which was released earlier this month. The singer described his 32nd studio album as a "really happy" set of songs to express how he is feeling in this stage of his life.
