David Beckham poked fun at his eldest son Brooklyn, who was making his first visit to the most anticipated event in the US sporting calendar.

"SUPER BOWL BABY ..... My boys first one so you can see by his face he is excited ?? @brooklynbeckham," he wrote.

Watching from his prime stadium seat, Brooklyn Beckham snapped an awesome panoramic photo of the half-time show, which featured Beyoncé, Coldplay, Bruno Mars, Mark Ronson and Lady Gaga.

"Believe in LOVE," Brooklyn wrote, echoing the message of the game.

Gwyneth Paltrow showed her support for her ex Chris Martin, taking their 11-year-old daughter Apple to the Super Bowl, where Chris was performing with his band Coldplay at half-time.

The actress posted a picture of her mini-me daughter sweetly holding hands with Blue Ivy, Beyoncé's four-year-old daughter who also cheered her mum on at half-time.

"#superbowl50 jacket game," Gwyneth captioned the photo.

Once inside Levi's Stadium in San Francisco, Gwyneth uploaded an image, writing: "#believeinlove it comes in all forms ?."

Music royalty Beyoncé shared dozens of images from the event, including one of herself and fellow half-time performers Chris Martin and Bruno Mars.

The Run the World singer surprised spectators with the release of her new single Formation, while Coldplay opened the show by singing Yellow and Viva La Vida. Bruno and Mark Ronson then joined forces to perform their hit Uptown Funk.

Sunday rehearsals were a family affair, as Beyoncé was joined by her daughter Blue Ivy and her husband Jay Z on the pitch that would later see the Denver Broncos beat favourites Carolina Panthers 24-10.

Hailed "one of the best half-time shows ever" by fans including comedian Ellen DeGeneres, the set was a clear success, reflected in Beyoncé's ecstatic expression.
