Frank Lampard has spoken candidly about how his wife Christine Bleakley adapted to the role of stepmother in his first interview as a married man on This Morning on Thursday.Frank has two daughters, Isla, eight, and Luna, 10, with his ex-partner, Spanish model Elen Rivas. After meeting Christine at the Pride of Britain Awards in October 2009, the footballer made the decision to wait a year before introducing his girlfriend to his children.

"It's been a long game and you develop it slowly, and fair play to all of them," he told hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby. "I'm the bystander in that situation – but the girls love Christine and vice versa."Christine has previously spoken about her bond with Luna and Isla, who spend half the week at home with the Lampards, and the other half with their mother Elen.

"I'd like to think, if you asked the girls in 10 years' time, they would say that it was a well-thought-out process," she said of her relationship with Isla and Luna during an interview last year. "I didn't meet them for a year, on purpose. "They know I'm their little mate. I don't want to be their mummy. That was never even a thought. "Frank and Christine tied the knot in a fairytale winter wedding ceremony on 20 December, after a four-year engagement – Isla and Luna were of course the guests of honour, and gave emotional speeches during the ceremony and at the reception.

A few weeks later, the two girls also joined the newlyweds on their honeymoon in Dubai, with Frank sharing photos of the happy family enjoying their holiday all together.
