Noel Edmonds has publicly pleaded with his stalker to stop harassing him. The TV star appeared on This Morning to speak about the abuse he has suffered at the hands of an unknown assailant, before turning to the camera and addressing the person in question.

"It kicked off a few weeks ago," Noel, 67, explained to hosts Ben Shepherd and Ruth Langsford. "'She sends me emails of an intimate nature. Then it got quite serious as she accused me of having an affair and wanted to go to the media."

Asked by Ben why he had emphasised the word 'she', Noel replied that, bizarrely, his "professional advisors believe it is probably a male" sending the messages. He continued: "I feel threatened in terms of the pain it's causing Liz (my wife), and the upset it's causing every time I open an email or a tweet, and if it goes even further with the allegations."

Then, addressing the stalker directly, he said: "If they are watching now… Please stop because it's only going to end very unpleasantly for you because I will have to go to the police." Earlier this week, Noel wrote to The One Show's Alex Jones on Twitter after she went to court to get a restraining order against her stalker, who had subjected her to a 17-month-long harassment campaign.

"@MissAlexjones total support and sympathy Alex," Noel tweeted. "I've got one now but am reluctant to bother the police #priceoffame." She replied: "Thanks Noel. So glad that it's sorted now. I hope your situation can be fixed too."

Speaking on This Morning, Noel said he "admired" Alex. "I don't know her personally, but I admire her, it resonated," he said. "And I wanted to say publicly that I understand."
