Just a few hours before Lady Gaga took to the stage at the Grammys to pay tribute to the Let's Dance icon, Iman shared a photo on Instagram showing her honouring the star in her own special way.The model uploaded a photograph of herself wearing a black jumper with the word 'Bowie' emblazoned across the back, with colourful birds and a beaded heart sewn on underneath. Despite speculation to the contrary, Iman decided not to attend the 2016 Grammys on Monday – but no doubt watched Lady Gaga's incredible tribute. During her set, the singer channelled David's glam rock alter-ego Ziggy Stardust – with bright orange hair and a white embellished suit – as she sang a medley of his biggest hits, including Space Oddity, Let's Dance and Under Pressure. It wasn't the first time Lady Gaga had paid tribute to David, who was also featured in the 'In Memorium' segment of the Grammys.

Just a few days before her performance, she got a large tattoo of David inked on her stomach and ribcage. She chose an image of Ziggy Stardust as he appears on the front of the Aladdin Sane album cover, his face painted with his iconic lightning bolt makeup. Alongside a photo of the completed tattoo, Lady Gaga wrote: "This was the image that changed my life. "Sunday, meanwhile, marked Iman's first Valentine’s Day without her beloved husband of 23 years, and she sent a sweet message of thanks to her 370,000 Instagram followers, with a post that read: "Happy Valentine's Day. Thank you all for your support, prayers and love."

The star is said to be staying strong in the wake of David's passing for the sake of their 15-year-old daughter Alexandria. She broke her silence almost a month after the singer's death on 10 January to post a touching message to her fans: "Love & Gratitude. Iman."
