Declan Donnelly has spoken out about the mystery of his missing wedding ring. The 40-year-old star caused a bit of a stir on Twitter at the weekend, when eagle-eyed viewers noticed he wasn't wearing his wedding band while presenting Saturday Night Takeaway. But there was "nothing sinister" in it – he had simply forgotten to put it on.Speaking to the Mirror, Dec confessed: "I didn't realise until afterwards when someone said there's a bit of a thing online. I left it upstairs in the dressing room – I didn't think anyone would notice. It's only a tiny thing."

His co-host Ant McPartlin said: "It happened to me once on I'm A Celebrity – everyone was going, 'Oh my God! What's going on?!'"But Dec, who married his manager Ali Astall in August, assured the newspaper that all is well. "There's no drama – thank God. There's nothing sinister in it. "In fact, just a few days before the show aired, Dec said his relationship with Ali was even better since they had tied the knot. "I'm not sure it's still in the honeymoon period, but I love it," the 40-year-old told the Mail.

"Before we got married Ant said to me, 'Married life isn't that different; it's just better', and that's exactly it. It's that security, I guess. "When you have your soulmate by your side, you feel so much more… complete. There's nothing better. "Dec and Ali got engaged in November 2014, and they were married on 1 August at St Michael's Roman Catholic Church in his home town of Newcastle. "Thank you for all the kind and lovely messages," the groom wrote on Twitter after the ceremony. "They are appreciated. My wife and I had the most amazing, magical, wonderful day. D x."
