February 29, 2016

Jimmy Kimmel and Matt Damon have had a long-standing fake feud, but on Sunday Ben Affleck attempted to get the pair to "bury the hatchet" once and for all. The 43-year-old was appearing on Jimmy's show as part of an Oscars special, but he had the audience in stitches when he revealed he had smuggled in his best friend.

Ben Affleck helped his close friend Matt Damon to get onto the TV show

As Ben made his way onto the stage, he turned heads with his large overcoat, sporting an impressive large belly – a stark contrast to his usually toned and muscular figure. When Jimmy suggested Ben had "ballooned", the actor quipped, "Thanks, I didn't think it was going to be body-shaming tonight".

However, a suspicious Jimmy quickly began to unbutton the coat – only for it to be revealed that Matt was curled up inside. However, the pair's antics did not go down well with their host. As the audience began to cheer and laugh, Jimmy immediately jokingly pretended to be angered that Matt was on his show.

"You're ruining my Oscars show!" he yelled, while Matt protested that he had been nominated at this year's ceremony and therefore deserved to be a guest on the show. "Nobody wants you here!"

Matt and Jimmy's fake feud is a running joke between the pair

The host then quickly had security come onto the set as part of the joke and wheel a bemused Matt off the stage, with the audience still in hysterics.

Once the commotion had died down, Jimmy and Ben had a chat about the Oscars, as well as Ben's four-year-old son's superhero-themed birthday party. The Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice actor revealed that he had dressed up as his character for the show, and revealed he had turned to the studio to help him with his costume.

"I had to call the studio and say, 'Is there any chance someone has the costume around?'" he revealed, adding that they were initially hesitant to loan him the ensemble. "They trust me for the movie, but not for a four-year-old's birthday," he laughed.

However, he confessed he later regretted his choice of outfit. "There was Wonder Woman, Captain America, Iron Man and there was me. It was so mortifying," he said. "I didn't think all the kids' parents would be there. It's 11 in the morning and they are like, 'Wow, Batman!'"
