Since Georgia May Foote and Giovanni Pernice started dating last year, the couple have been on cloud nine. And only three months after making their relationship official, the former Coronation Street actress has said that the dancer is the "best thing that's ever happened" to her.

"Gio is my best friend and he has helped me through a lot. He's the best thing that's ever happened to me," she revealed to The Mirror.

Geogia May Foote and Giovanni Pernice started dating at the end of December

She continued: "I'm in a very good place now. I've got good people around me."

Georgia is believed to have ended her eight-month relationship with her former co-star Sean Ward after falling for Giovanni during their time on the BBC entertainment show, but the actress insists that they only became more than friends once Strictly ended.

"It's something that just happened, I didn't get a chance to look at him that way while I was on the show. It was a friendship that blossomed."

The couple recently moved in together

Since then, their relationship has moved quickly, with Georgia admitting she has already met her boyfriend's parents.

"I went to Sicily for a little while and I've met his parents. I've been in contact with them a lot and they are lovely. He's met my parents too. I call him Peach, and he calls me Amore."

The couple have also recently taken their relationship to the next level by moving in together. The duo got the keys to their new home in London at the end of February.

And it seems that what she enjoys the most about living together is playing the housewife: "I love cooking for him. He does wash pots and help out. I like being housewifey, I always have really. We like quiet nights in," she told The Mirror.

"We don't do a lot of dancing any more, I dance on my own when I'm mopping the floor."
