In less than a month, Kristin Cavallari experienced the joy of childbirth, and the heartache of losing her brother Michael. This week the star opened about that bittersweet period of her life, and revealed how she found solace in her three children. "I'm ok. I'm going to have good days and bad days, but I've really found a lot of strength in my kids, especially Saylor," the 29-year-old told People at a launch party in New York on Tuesday. "I couldn't just fall apart – I had a little baby to look after.

"When you lose someone, it really makes you realise how precious life is, and so I'm just thankful that I have my babies and I'm thankful for everything in my life. "Kristin and her husband Jay Cutler welcomed daughter Saylor on 23 November; the couple are also parents to sons Camden, three, and 22-month-old Jaxon. The little boys have adjusted well to their baby sister – although it did take a while for middle child Jaxon to get on board. "They're really cute, they lay on the floor with her and they talk to her and she smiles and laughs, and she just thinks they're great," Kristin said. "The first week was tough with Jaxon. He would get upset every time I was nursing, he'd grab my boppy pillow and he'd thrown himself on the ground. But once we got through that little phase, it's been smooth sailing since."

It was confirmed last month that Kristin's brother Michael passed away from hypothermia after crashing his car during freezing temperatures in a remote area of Utah. The 30-year-old went missing the day after Thanksgiving. Soon after, his car was found abandoned on a highway, and his body was discovered two weeks later in 10 December.Kristin announced the sad news of her brother's death on Instagram, telling fans her heart was "in a million pieces" as she shared a childhood photo of herself and Michael together. "Mikey, I could always count on you to make me laugh. You had such a good heart and will be forever missed,” she wrote. “I'm at a loss for words but I know u are in a better place and finally at peace. I love u so much RIP."
