Rebecca Adlington and Harry Needs have decided to call time on their marriage 18 months after they wed. The Olympic swimmer issued a statement on Tuesday confirming the end of her marriage, but stating "it is on amicable terms".
Rebecca and Harry have announced they have split
The 27-year-old posted a statement on her website, which read: "It’s after much thought and sadness that we confirm our separation. It is on amicable terms and we still remain close friends.
"We move forward with respect for one another and our focus and commitment is on parenting our gorgeous daughter Summer. This will be our only comment on this private matter. Becky and Harry."
The couple tied the knot in 2014
The news comes just three months after the mother-of-one had infinity symbols tattooed to represent her endless love for both Harry and Summer.
The Olympic gold medallist and her 24-year-old husband tied the knot in 2014, sharing their wedding photos exclusively with HELLO! magazine.
The pair welcomed Summer on 8 June
"The ceremony was so personal, which was exactly what we wanted," revealed Rebecca of their big day, which took place at an idyllic rural wedding venue The Ashes set amid 50 acres of Staffordshire countryside.
Just three months later the happy couple announced that they were expecting their first child together. Since then, the doting mother has regularly posted photos of her nine month-old daughter, Summer.
Their little golden girl was given the middle name Kay after her maternal grandmother, reports the Daily Mail. In an exclusive interview with HELLO! Harry, a personal trainer, explained how they chose the baby's sunny first name.
The 23-year-old said: "When we realised Becky had won her medals in summer, that we got married in summer, and that our baby was born in summer, it made perfect sense to name her after our favourite time of year."
