Alan Halsall and Lucy-Jo Hudson have announced their separation after seven years of marriage. The couple started dating in 2005 after meeting on the set of ITV soap Coronation Street, and tied the knot in 2009. They welcomed their daughter Sienna-Rae in September 2013.

Lucy-Jo and Alan confirmed their split in a joint statement released on Monday, saying they had shared "many wonderful years together".

"Lucy-Jo Hudson and Alan Halsall are sad to announce that they have separated," the statement read. "They have shared many wonderful years together and will remain close friends. They ask for privacy at this emotional time, to allow both to focus on their beautiful daughter Sienna-Rae, to ensure her continued happiness."

Lucy-Jo left Coronation Street in 2005 after three years playing Katy Harris on the long-running soap. Alan continues to be one of the show's most famous faces; he has played lovable mechanic Tyrone Dobbs since 1998. Following the arrival of their daughter in 2013, the actor admitted his priorities had changed.

"I miss my little girl, Sienna-Rae, when I'm at work so, as soon as I finish a scene, I'm in the car as quick as I can because I want to be part of everything," he told the Sun. "I think Lucy would say she's got my laugh. And she's got Lucy's eyes. She's absolutely beautiful and so happy. Life couldn't get any better. Fatherhood is fantastic and it changes everything. Sienna-Rae comes first now."
