Big news for Cher fans – the superstar is working on a musical based on her life story. The planned show will feature the 69-year-old's biggest hits from the last five decades, and she tweeted that she'll be involved every step of the way.She wrote: "Producers are trying to write musical now about my life with my music. I was there and know the stories that no one knows but me!". Understandably Cher's tweets sent fans into overdrive, with them hoping the production will include unheard stories from her past.
Cher and Christina Aguilera starred in the musical movie Burlesque
Cher confirmed it would be based around three stages of her life: the Sonny & Cher years, the Believe era – following her split from Bono – and the current day. But fans hoping to catch the musical sooner rather than later may be disappointed. "I hope it happens," Cher added. "It's a VERY SLOW PROCESS! Been working on it quite a while now." Her last venture into the world of musicals was the 2010 film Burlesque, which also starred Christina Aguilera. Although it received mixed reviews, the movie was a commercial success and grossed over £70million at the Box Office.
Cher confirmed the new musical will focus on three areas of her 50-year career
Last year Cher teased plans to return to the studio for her 26th album, and confirmed she plans to reschedule dates for her Dressed to Kill world tour – after an acute viral infection forced her to cancel the second leg.She told Billboard: "I've got everything. Nothing went anywhere, I will keep Dressed to Kill and Welcome to Burlesque (in the set list), because those are my two favourite songs to do, actually.
"I'm hoping to be able to do this. That's my wish. But I can't say if I actually will be able to. My will is pretty strong, so… I don't know."
