Celine Dion raised a glass of bubbly as she celebrated her 48th birthday on Thursday. The singer's friends and colleagues treated her to a much-needed surprise birthday party after what has been a very difficult year for the star.
The My Heart Will Go On hitmaker put on a brave face while marking her big day, sharing a snap of her party with her Instagram followers.
Celine celebrated her 48th birthday
In January, Celine lost both her husband René Angélil and her brother Daniel Dion to throat cancer, but she returned to the stage just a month later.
After René's funeral, Celine thanked fans for their support. In a statement she said: "My family and I are deeply touched by the outpouring of love and support from so many people who have touched our lives during these past few days.
"We have felt your love for René, and your prayers and compassion have helped us during this most difficult time… more than you'll ever know. I thank you from the bottom of my heart."
Celine's husband passed away in January
Just weeks after losing her husband, the singer reduced the price of her Florida estate in a bed to finally sell the property.
Celine cut £21million ($30million) off the asking price as the Jupiter Island property failed to sell after almost three years on the market.
The five-bedroom estate, which has its own waterpark, tennis court and golf range, is now listed for £32million ($45million). Celine also sold her home in Quebec, Canada in February, and is reported to be planning to settle permanently in Las Vegas, where she has a residency show at Caesars Palace.
Now it seems the star is back in the studio following her successful return to Vegas and an emotional tribute to the victims of the Paris attacks at the American Music Awards.
