Thomas Cohen has spoken candidly about the trauma of losing his wife Peaches Geldof, and revealed he "refused" to become a "traumatised, grief-stricken single father" following her death. "I got to the stage where I thought, 'I don't want to stay in this place anymore'. I'm not dissociating, hiding myself or escaping the reality of the situation. However, I'm not staying based in that trauma," the 25-year-old said in an interview with The Sunday Times.

Peaches was found dead in the Kent home she shared with Thomas and their two young sons, Phaedra and Astala, in April 2014, having taken what an inquest found to be a "life-threatening" amount of heroin.Thomas said he has finally managed to overcome much of his grief. "At the time I was 23. I had two children who needed to be taken care of and, in maybe June 2014, I started to do that," he said. "I just made a decision to start looking after myself and refused to lose myself and become a traumatised, grief-stricken single father who everyone's going to look at and think I feel all these things about."

The musician admitted that pulling himself out of his grief was "the hardest thing" he's had to do, and revealed he turned to medication as well as transcendental meditation to help him cope with the "trauma" of discovering his wife's body.Thomas also spoke about the love and support he has received from friends and family, and said he is still very close to Peaches' family, including the "very sweet" Sir Bob Geldof, and her sister Fifi, Pixie and Tiger Lily.
