Just days after announcing she is quitting The X Factor to focus on her music career, Cheryl Fernandez-Versini appears to have stayed true to her word. The 32-year-old sparked excitement amongst fans after posting a selfie hinting that her new music will be released soon.
The black-and-white snap shows Cheryl pouting for the camera while wearing a pair of headphones – presumably listening to her new single. Cheryl used emojis to caption the snap, which appear to translate to say: "New music coming soon."
Cheryl teased that she will be releasing new music in the near future
The star will have plenty of time to work on her new album after confirming her decision to leave her judging role on The X Factor on Monday. In a statement released to HELLO! Online, Cheryl revealed that she had recently met with boss Simon Cowell to inform him of her decision.
"I have had such an amazing experience being a judge on The X Factor," Cheryl said. "I have learnt so much and enjoyed nurturing talent but I've missed making music and am excited to be recording again.
"I want to thank everybody I have worked with along the way, especially Simon who I love to bits. I hope the show continues to produce stars and I wish them all the best."
Cheryl is in LA with her boyfriend Liam Payne while she records her new album
Simon, meanwhile, added: "Cheryl and myself spoke about this. I totally understand her commitment to making more records. She has been amazing on this show and in the near future we will be working on other things together."
Cheryl has been recording new music in Los Angeles for the last few weeks, while spending some quality time with her boyfriend Liam Payne.
A source told The Sun: "Music is her number one passion and she has just stared working on a new album which she wants out later this year. She is having a great time in the US with Liam and getting back to her pop roots. "Simon understands her reasons. He is supportive. X Factor will always be a special show for her as it changed her life."
