Kim Kardashian pays tribute to football star killed in shooting

Kim Kardashian has sent a heartfelt message to the family of former New Orleans Saints player Will Smith, who was fatally shot over the weekend. Upon hearing the tragic news, the star took to social media, sharing a photo of herself with Will's wife Racquel, who was also injured in the shooting. "My heart breaks for my sweet friend Rockie (Racquel). I'm deeply saddened by your loss," she wrote alongside. In a follow-up tweet Kim added: "Sending so many prayers to her & her family. May the Lord surround her & her children with love and protection during this devastating time."

It's thought that Kim got to know Will and Racquel while she was dating Reggie Bush, who played with the Saints alongside Will from 2006 until 2010."Will, you were an angel to your family on earth and you will continue to be in the life after. May God bless you!" Kim tweeted.

Will was tragically killed on Saturday night in a shooting

Will, 34, and Racquel, 33, have three young children together, William, Wynter and Lisa, and had celebrated the christening of their godson earlier on Saturday.The couple were driving home from dinner at around 11.30pm that night when they were rear-ended by an orange Hummer. Will's car then struck his friend's car, who was driving in front of them.

Will and Racquel have three children together

"At some point, the 30-year-old male driver of the Hummer and Smith exchanged words," New Orleans Police said in a statement. "The 30-year-old make driver produced a handgun and shot Smith multiple times, the female victim was also shot in the leg. "Tragically, Will died at the scene, while his wife was taken to a nearby hospital.The alleged shooter, Cardell 'Bear' Hayes remained on the scene until police arrived. He was arrested and charged with one count of second-degree murder along with aggravated battery for shooting Raquel.
