April 15, 2016

It has been eight months since Mario Falcone said goodbye to TOWIE after 14 series, and now he has given a sneak peek inside his time on the reality show. Mario, 28, has revealed he was banned from using polysyllabic words, because producers said the rest of the cast would struggle to understand him. "I had to dwindle it down a bit when I did TOWIE," the articulate star told the Mirror. "Once I said the word 'discombobulated', and the whole crew said: 'Mario, you can't say that', and I was like, 'Why?'

Mario Falcone has revealed he was told not to use long words on TOWIE

"They said: 'The people who watch TOWIE won't know what you're talking about.' I confused (former cast mate) Tommy Mallet!"Mario revealed that his vocabulary stems from his former career as a bespoke tailor, when he was expected to speak properly to his wealthy clients. He added: "When I was on This Morning for a segment, Holly Willoughby said: 'Mario, I mean this in the nicest way possible, you're really intelligent, I had no idea!'"Thanks for the backhanded compliment," he joked. "I am normal."

Mario left the long-running reality show in August last year

The star admitted he is relieved he no longer has to pretend to be something that he is not, but says he has no regrets about appearing on the reality show. "I've got a lovely house, enough money and investments, my business and if I want to do my own suits and tailoring I can do that," he said. "So no, I don't regret it. I learnt more in the four years on TOWIE than I would have done four years in real life. It's a nice story to tell in the future – it's a chapter."
