Ronnie Corbett was laid to rest in a private funeral service in Surrey on Monday afternoon. Friends and family gathered to pay their last respects to the comedian, who passed away at the age of 85 on 31 March.

His widow Anne arrived at St John the Evangelist Church in Shirley with her two daughters Emma, 48, and Sophie, 47. She waved to fans who had gathered outside, and appeared to have recovered from a recent health scare which saw her admitted to London's Croydon University Hospital for two days following her husband's death.

A number of Ronnie's close friends from the entertainment industry attended the funeral service, including David Walliams, Rob Brydon and Jimmy Tarbuck, who described Ronnie as a "great guy" who was much loved by all that knew him.

Other famous faces to attend the service included Harry Hill, Michael Parkinson and Sir Bruce Forsyth's wife Wilnelia. The former Miss World paid her respects on behalf of her husband, who was too unwell to attend.

In a touching tribute, Ronnie's glasses were laid on top of his coffin alongside white flowers and messages from his loved ones. His life was celebrated in the private church service, before another service at Croydon Crematorium.

Ronnie passed away on 31 March, while surrounded by his loving family. It has since been revealed that the star had been battling motor neurone disease for over a year before his death, and his wife Anne paid a heartbreaking tribute to her "courageous" partner.

"Ron wasn't just my husband, and the love of my love. He was also my best friend," she said. "Throughout his whole illness, he never grumbled or complained. No one could have been more courageous."
