April 29, 2016

Gwyneth Paltrow has revealed how turning 40 had a huge impact in her life. The Iron Man actress shared her experiences following reaching the landmark age.

The 43-year-old star told The Mirror: "At 40, my life changed so much. I think every woman around that time gets this massive software upgrade. You're just different. You're upgraded.

The Goop founder, who split from Coldplay's frontman Chris Martin in 2014 after a 12-year marriage, continued: "For me there were just a bunch of changes I had to make to really be true to myself and really live my happiness. You have to be brave and make the choice to do that, to truly accept yourself and love yourself and really forgive yourself for your missteps.

"So it's been a long interesting road to get to the place where I feel really content and that I really know myself and like myself. I wish they could teach girls to do this when they are 16 instead of 40, but that's part of life."

The mother-of-two has previously opened up about her decision to 'consciously uncouple' from Chris. Speaking to You magazine, she revealed her approach to their divorce, and how it made their relationship stronger. She said: "I realise it sounds corny, but it really is an amazing philosophy on how to separate.

"I have seen so much lasting damage caused by terrible vitriol and uncontained emotion in divorces. I think we're better as friends. We are very close and supportive of one another and we co-parent well."
