Alan Halsall and Lucy-Jo Hudson have rekindled their relationship, just six weeks after announcing their separation. The Coronation Street star confirmed they were back together with a heartfelt post to his "beautiful wife" in honour of her 33rd birthday on Wednesday – revealing that he planned to take her away on a romantic trip to Paris.

"Happy Birthday to my beautiful wife @LucyJo_Hudson who is 33 today. Love you so much darling, and cannot wait for Paris," Alan tweeted.

The post was retweeted by Lucy-Jo, who added a number of heart-eyed emojis and the hashtag "#lucky girl".

Alan and Lucy first sparked rumours of a reconciliation on Monday, when they were spotted kissing at a charity football match. Their public display of affection comes less than two months after the couple confirmed they had split following seven years of marriage, saying they had shared "many wonderful years together".

Lucy-Jo had since said she was finding the separation "difficult", but explained she remained "best mates" with her husband, whom she met on the set of Coronation Street in 2005.

The couple announced their separation in March

Speaking during an appearance on Loose Women in April, Lucy-Jo admitted: "It's difficult. I'm up and down."

However she insisted that she and Alan, who are parents to daughter Sienna-Rae, are still "best mates".

"We'll remain friends and I genuinely mean that, we still care for each other," she said. "We're so amicable and we get on, we speak every day. We're still best mates."

Lucy-Jo and Alan, 33, started dating in 2005. That same year, the West Yorkshire beauty left the show after three years playing Katy Harris. The couple then tied the knot in 2009 and welcomed their daughter in September 2013.

Alan continues to be one of Coronation Street's most famous faces; he has played lovable mechanic Tyrone Dobbs since 1998.
