Victoria Beckham had a secret to share when she attended the Vogue 100: A Century of Style exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery on Thursday. The mum-of-four revealed that producers used to turn her microphone off when she was singing in the Spice Girls, so just the vocals of her bandmates, Geri Halliwell, Mel C, Mel B and Emma Bunton could be heard.According to the Sun, Victoria told Claudia Winkleman: "They used to turn it off and just let the others sing. I got the last laugh – and now my mic is well and truly on, finally."

She also revealed that she got a much better deal when it came to the band's wardrobe. "I was always the one that loved fashion and it was quite a result for me because the girls always used to get their clothes for free... so there was a lot of budget for me to have my little Gucci dress. "But she admitted that she usually felt out of her comfort zone while performing with the band. "Luckily because I used to wear heels, I just used to jig about a bit and I got away with it, but it never came easily. I was always much more reserved than the other girls."

Having graced the cover of British Vogue three time now, Victoria, 42, was understandably a guest of honour at the exhibition launch. She was joined on the night by her very proud eldest son Brooklyn Beckham. The 17-year-old later took to Instagram to praise his mum's achievements and shared a snapshot of the pair standing in front of a vintage image of dad David and Victoria, who was pregnant at the time with Brooklyn. "So proud listening to my mum speak tonight @nationalportraitgallery @britishvogue #Vogue100 love this Juergen Teller shot!@victoriabeckham @davidbeckham," he wrote.

Victoria's comments about her time in the Spice Girls tally with those made by the band's former manager Simon Fuller."Even in the Spice Girls - it was great fun, she was in the world's biggest group for two or three years - but she didn't feel comfortable," he recently revealed. "She could sing pretty well, she could dance pretty well, but she always felt uncomfortable.""When the Spice Girls broke up, she had a few songs as a solo artist but she wasn't happy and she said to me, 'Simon, I just don't want to do music any more. What do you think I should do?'

"She was called Posh Spice because she always wore the best dresses and she knew everything about clothes. I said, 'You should be in fashion. You should be a designer.'""She's now a legitimate fashion designer... there's no stopping her," he added. "She will be - without any doubt - one of the world's greatest designers in the next few years."
