Ozzy Osbourne has broken his silence just hours after it was reported that he and his wife Sharon had split. The Black Sabbath rocker declined to comment specifically about his break-up, but he did quash one rumour in particular.
"I have been sober for three and a quarter years," Ozzy told E! News.
"I have not touched drugs or alcohol in that time," he added. "Any reports that I am not sober are completely inaccurate."
Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne have split
The 67-year-old singer has been the subject of much speculation. While his sobriety had nothing to do with the split, his fidelity to his wife Sharon has been called into question.
According to The Sun, Ozzy had an alleged affair with celebrity hairstylist Michelle Pugh, whose clients include Jennifer Lopez and Alicia Silverstone.
When Sharon, 63, confronted her husband, Ozzy was "extremely sheepish and admitted being close to Michelle," a source said. They added: "It is likely Sharon has discovered calls and possibly meetings."
The rocker denied rumours that he is not sober
On Monday the former X Factor judge was notably absent from her hosting duties on The Talk.
Her co-star Julie Chen explained: "As we get started, Sharon is not here today. There were many tabloid headlines of her and Ozzy, rumours and speculations that they have split up after nearly 34 years of marriage.
"Sharon understandably took today off and we are sending all of our love to her and to her family. And we ask that you do the same."
The couple were married for nearly 34 years
News of their split surfaced on the weekend, when the couple's spokesperson Gary Farrow confirmed that Ozzy had moved out of their marital home. Sharon and Ozzy, who have three children together, are said to have "mutually agreed" that he move out.
The pair previously split in 2013 when Ozzy suffered a drugs relapse. In her autobiography Unbreakable, Sharon admitted that she had considered a divorce, however the couple remained together after Ozzy sought professional medical help.
