Following the news that Johnny Depp and Amber Heard are to divorce after 15 months of marriage, it's been reported that he is to fight her claim for spousal support. Amber, 30, filed for divorce this week at Los Angeles Superior Court, citing irreconcilable differences.

It's since been reported by TMZ that the model will seek spousal support from actor Johnny, 52, a request he is said to have asked the judge to reject. The Pirates of the Caribbean star has reportedly hired top US lawyer Laura Wasser, who is known as one of the most powerful celebrity divorce attorneys in Hollywood.

Laura's previous clients include Angelina Jolie, Denise Richards, Nick Lachey and the Kardashians. She is also said to have drafted Britney Spears' pre-nuptial agreement ahead of her marriage to Kevin Federline, before representing the pop princess in her child welfare case in 2006.

The hotshot lawyer was also the person who managed to have Kim Kardashian freed from her 72 day marriage to Kris Humphries, and represented Christina Aguilera in her divorce from Jordan Bratman.

Confirmation that the couple were to split came just days after the death of Johnny's mother, Betty Sue Palmer. She passed away on Friday 20 May aged 81 – following a long illness – and just three days later Amber filed for divorce.

Amber and Johnny haven't been seen in public together since April, when they released a video apologising for illegally smuggling their dogs into Australia.
