Jamie Vardy's wife Rebekah tells of 'horrific' experience in France

Jamie Vardy's wife Rebekah has revealed that she suffered a"shocking" ordeal on her way to watch England's football matchagainst Russia on Saturday night. The 34-year-old said French police hadtear-gassed the England supporters who were travelling to the game at Marseille'sStade Vélodrome and treated them "like animals".

Rebekah was in Marseille to support her husband Jamie, who didn'tmake it onto the pitch during the game, which ended in a 1-1 draw.

The mum-of-three had appeared excited earlier in the afternoonas she shared a photo of herself drinking beer while standing among a group ofEngland fans. "In with the carnage amongst the England fans…#EURO2016," Rebekah had wrote.

However it appears her night out was marred by the"shocking" behaviour of French police when they entered the stadium.

Taking to Twitter to discuss the experience, Rebekah told fans: "That hasto be up there with the worst experience EVER at an away game! Teargassed forno reason, caged and treated like animals! Shocking!"

She added: "I witnessed this with my own eyes! I can'tcomment on things I didn't see but what I got caught up in was horrific anduncalled for.

The mum-of-three had previously been excited for the match

"And this happened before the game even kickedoff!"

When Piers Morgan challenged her story, Rebekah responded:"Mr Morgan…. A fact! They closed the gates so the fans couldn't getthrough then tear gassed us!"

There was also trouble inside the Stade Vélodrome followingthe game, with hundreds of England fans seen jumping over railings to flee the stadiumafter Russian fans sparked violence.

UEFA has announced that it will launch an investigation intothe incidents, with Russia facing disciplinary action for initiating theviolence.

Rebekah is among a number of loyal wives and girlfriends who havetravelled to France to support their partners throughout Euro 2016. Joe Hart'swife Kimberly was also in the crowd, with the England goalkeeper spottedtelling her to "Be safe, stay here" as trouble kicked off followingthe game.
