Judy Murray sends sweet message to son Andy after victory at Queen's

June 20, 2016

When Andy Murray lifted the Queen's Club trophy on Sunday, no one was prouder than his mum, Judy Murray. The 56-year-old posted a sweet congratulatory message to her son on Twitter, moments after his victory in London. "King of Queens," she wrote alongside a photo showing Andy with his hands on the winner's cup.

Andy made history at the weekend when he became the first man to win the Queen's Club title five times. He beat Canadian Milos Raonic to overtake the likes of John McEnroe, Boris Becker and Roy Emerson with five Aegon Championship titles.

It was Andy's second championship win of the year – and now his attention will turn to Wimbledon, which kicks off on 27 June. He famously won the prestigious tennis competition in 2013, becoming the first British man to win the Men's Singles Championship since Fred Perry, 77 years previously, and will be hoping to reclaim the title again this year.

Cheering him on every step of the way will be mum Judy, and his wife Kim Sears, who are both passionate supporters of the sportsman. Fans will also be hoping to catch their first glimpse of the couple's baby daughter, Sophia Olivia, who was born back in February.

Earlier this month 29-year-old Andy opened up about his baby girl in an interview with Men's Health, and said her arrival had given him "perspective".

"For a number of years I hadn't played a Slam like that; normally I'm competing for them and trying to win them, but this time I had something else on my mind as well," he said.

"I don't think it affected my tennis so much, but it definitely gave me perspective. I had to think a little bit more about what’s important, what my values are."
