Chelsy Davy says she and Prince Harry 'will always be good friends'

June 20, 2016

They split in 2010 after a seven-year relationship, but Chelsy Davy and Prince Harry will always remain close. In a new interview with the Sunday Times Style magazine, Chelsy has opened up about her royal ex and how there are no hard feelings between the pair.

"I think we will always be good friends," said Chelsy, 30.

Like Harry, who has admitted that he wants children in the future, Chelsy added that marriage and family are "a beautiful thing".

Despite splitting from the Prince in 2010, Chelsy was still invited to Prince William and Kate's royal wedding the following year, and attended.

She has remained friends with Harry and also made an appearance at the Prince's 30th birthday party at Kensington Palace in 2014, alongside Harry's other famous ex Cressida Bonas.

"I think we will always be good friends," said Chelsy

Last year fans questioned whether Harry and Chelsy would get back together. A report in The Sun claimed that Chelsy and Harry, 31, secretly met up over the summer when the fifth-in-line was working on conservation projects in Africa.

"Harry still holds a candle for her," a friend of the ex-couple said. "They saw each other recently. There's still very much something between them. He has never fallen out of love with Chelsy."

"There's still very much something between them, but Chelsy won't commit yet because she doesn't want to lead a life in the spotlight," the insider said.

"Harry's very sensitive to that. She's not like other girls; she's strong, independent and a rule-breaker. She does everything on her own terms."

Chelsy is now a jewellery entrepreneur

Chelsy, who is regularly spotted on London's social scene, now divides her time between Zimbabwe, where her parents live and own a farm, and west London, where she has a home in Chelsea.

The University of Leeds graduate worked as a trainee solicitor at Allen & Overy but quit her position in 2014. She has recently founded an Africa-based jewellery company Aya, which uses gems from Zambia.

The former lawyer attended William and Kate's wedding in 2011

She first met Harry in 2004 in Cape Town when the Prince was on his Gap Year. Chelsy was introduced to the Queen in 2008 when she attended the wedding of Harry's cousin Peter Phillips to Autumn Kelly.

It was Prince William and Kate's wedding in 2011 that acted as a wake-up call for Chelsy, however, who reportedly said that a life as a Princess was "not one" for her.
