Selma Blair has publicly apologised for her recent outburst on an airplane. The actress had to be removed from an international flight on Monday after causing a disruption, and was taken off the aircraft by stretcher before being rushed to hospital.
The news made headlines on both sides of the Atlantic – and now Selma is sharing her side of the story.
Selma Blair has issued a public apology following her airplane outburst
"I made a big mistake yesterday," the 43-year-old star wrote in a statement to Vanity Fair. "After a lovely trip with my son and his dad, I mixed alcohol with medication, and that caused me to black out and led me to say and do things that I deeply regret."
The actress continued, "My son was with his dad asleep with his headphones on, so there is that saving grace. I take this very seriously, and I apologise to all of the passengers and crew that I disturbed and am thankful to all of the people who helped me in the aftermath. I am a flawed human being who makes mistakes and am filled with shame over this incident. I am truly very sorry."
The actress shared this photo at the start of the family holiday
Selma was returning from a family vacation in Cancun, Mexico with her four-year-old son Arthur, and his father Jason Bleick at the time of the incident.
A source told People magazine: "She was met by paramedics at LAX as soon as her plane arrived. It looks like she had taken a combination of prescription medication with alcohol. We don't know what sort of prescription medications."
TMZ had previously reported that the pilot grew concerned and phoned ahead to inform air control after eyewitnesses claimed to have seen the Cruel Intentions actress mixing something into a glass of wine.
