Russell Brand is believed to have popped the question to his pregnant girlfriend Laura Gallacher. The 41-year-old, who is preparing to become a first-time father, wanted to "do the right thing" by making Laura his wife, the Sun reports. The couple reportedly threw an engagement party at their home in Henley-on-Thames at the weekend, where they celebrated with friends and family, including Laura's famous sister Kirsty Gallacher.
A photo on Kirsty's Twitter page – thought to be taken at the party - shows her posing with her younger sibling, and sending her "congratulations to my gorgeous sister".

Russell – who was previously married to Katy Perry – and 27-year-old Laura have taken care to keep their relationship out of the spotlight. A source told the newspaper: "Russell didn't want a big fuss this time after his very public relationship with Katy.
"Laura is also keen to keep their romance low-key, so the small, intimate party was very much in keeping with their 'homebods' image."

The insider added: "As they are becoming parents, Russell wanted to do the right thing and make Laura his wife. She's delighted he asked."
Russell – who previously dated Jemima Khan – married US pop star Katy in October 2010 but they split just 14 months later, with their divorce finalised in July 2012.

He has had an on-off romance with Laura for a number of years; after splitting in 2007, they were seen together in 2009, and then rekindled their relationship last year when they spent a romantic weekend together in Rome.
A source has said he is "absolutely made up" about Laura's pregnancy. "Most of his closest friends have children and he was desperate to start a family," the insider said. "He and Laura are thrilled to bits at the prospect of becoming parents. They have shared their happiness with close friends and family."
