Victoria Beckham reveals what she really, really wants – and it's for a very good cause

July 6, 2016

Two decades after its release, the Spice Girls' debut single Wannabe is still inspiring women everywhere. The girl power-infused lyrics are now being used for the UN's new Global Goals campaign which aims to improve the lives of women and girls across the globe.

The #WhatIReallyReallyWant film was created by Project Everyone and carries a powerful message to end violence, stop child marriage, fight for quality education and equal pay for equal work. It also encourages people to share pictures of what they really, really want – and the visual response will be presented to world leaders at the UN General Assembly in September.

Wannabe is the soundtrack to the UN's new Global Goals campaign

As a fitting tribute to the band who spent so much time championing women, the clip features a recreation of the Spice Girls' iconic dance routine on the Grand Staircase at the St Pancras Renaissance Hotel in London, and unsurprisingly it's a proud moment for Posh, Sporty, Scary, Baby and Ginger.

Victoria Beckham shared the #WhatIReallyReallyWant video on her official Facebook page, with the caption: "20 years on – Girl Power being used to empower a new generation. I'm so proud of the Global Goals."

The 42-year-old fashion designer later posted a picture of what she wants, with the message: "#WhatIReallyReallyWant… is no more girls dying of HIV! X VB."

Melanie C also shared her thoughts, writing on Twitter: "Flattered and honoured that our crazy song is being used so beautifully."

And it's not just the Spice Girls – a whole host of celebrities have been pushing the campaign on their social channels. Stars including Emma Watson, Jamie Oliver and YouTube vlogger Tanya Burr revealed what they really, really want, and urged their fans and followers to do the same.
