Kim Sears cheers Andy Murray to victory as he reaches Wimbledon semi-final

July 7, 2016

Kim Sears' joy was written all over her face as she watched husband Andy Murray progress to the semi-finals of Wimbledon on Wednesday. The proud mum-of-one was sat in the stands to watch Andy take on Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, and was completely caught up in the rollercoaster on-court action.

Kim was impeccably dressed in a long-sleeved floral dress featuring a lace collar, and teamed with nude heels. She stuck to her winning formula when it came to her hair, choosing a smooth and sleek blowdry.

Her animated face told the story of the match; Andy withstood a dramatic comeback from Jo-Wilfried to win in five sets and reach his seventh Wimbledon semi-final. The British champion will now face Czech 10th seed Tomas Berdych in the last four on Friday. The other semi-final will see seven-time champion Roger Federer take on Canadian star Milos Raonic.

After the match, Andy laughed off reports that he is the nation's last hope following disappointment at the Euros. "It's not that bad, is it? Is it that bad?" he laughed with reporters. "There's a lot more hopes left than me! I just try my best at this event to make all the people that watch happy. Hopefully I can win a couple more, and that's it."

Andy's family believe he has an extra bit of luck on his side this year – his five-month-old daughter Sophia.  "I think she is his lucky charm," Andy's grandmother Ellen Murray told the Evening Standard earlier this week. "And she's a beautiful one!"

Andy and Kim's daughter Sophia made her Wimbledon debut last week

Little Sophia, who was born in February, made her debut at Wimbledon with mum Kim on day two of the championships, and Andy has said his baby girl has given him an extra incentive to excel on the court.

Speaking about his hopes of winning Wimbledon again this year, the 29-year-old said: "I guess it would be nice so she knows what it is that you've done, or is maybe old enough to understand what it is that you do. So maybe as I start to get older that might be more of a motivation to keep going and training, and working hard to stay at the top."

He added: "Playing still feels the same. It's just the days don't feel the same when I get to see her because she is changing all the time. I'm learning new things, and every day is a bit more exciting."
