Andy Murray has opened up about family life

"Experiencing the Wimbledon fortnight as a parent has been different because now I have a family to get home to," he told BBC Sports. "For the first time ever, tennis is probably more of a distraction from my home life than the other way around.

"Beforehand, in the build-up to a Slam final, I'd always be thinking about that match. I don't feel like that just now – I'm just looking forward to the next time I see Sophia and Kim."

The tennis star admitted that he would love for his daughter to come and watch him play when she's older, explaining that it would give him "extra motivation" during his matches.

"Sophia's already watched a bit of tennis with Kim at home over these last couple of weeks and maybe when she's older she'll want to come and see me play," he said. "I would like that; it would be nice for me in a selfish way. I'm sure she won't be that interested but it gives me a little bit of extra motivation to keep going when I get a bit older."

He admitted he hopes Sophia will watch him play when she's older

It's already been a successful Wimbledon tournament for the Scottish star, who is set to play in the final on Sunday against Milos Raonic.

Andy's grandmother Ellen Murray revealed that little Sophia could have inadvertently contributed to his ongoing success "I think she is his lucky charm," she told the Evening Standard. "And she's a beautiful one!"

Sophia, who was born in February, has already made her debut at Wimbledon with mum Kim, on day two of the championships. Despite remaining in the crèche while Kim cheered Andy on courtside, she did prove to be a good luck charm for her dad as he faced Liam Broady in the first round match.
