Kate Hudson and Matt Bellamy reunite for son Bingham's fifth birthday

Kate Hudson and Matt Bellamy have remained on good terms since calling off their engagement in 2014, and on Saturday the pair were reunited as they celebrated their son Bingham's fifth birthday. Matt took to Instagram to give his followers a sneak peek of their family outing as they headed to see Harry Potter and The Cursed Child at the theatre.

Matt Bellamy and Kate Hudson reunited for their son's birthday

In the selfie, Matt and Kate looked relaxed and happy as they smile for the camera, while Kate carries little Bingham in her arms. Also joining them for the fun day out was Kate's 12-year-old son Ryder Robinson, who is pulling an excited facial expression ahead of going in to see the play.

"Happy Bday Bing!!! #harrypotterandthecursedchild @katehudson xxx," Matt captioned the snap, which Kate reposted on her own Instagram account for her 4.8 million followers.

Kate shared a sweet snap of her son on Instagram

The Almost Famous also shared another adorable photo of herself cuddling with her little boy earlier that morning, admitting that she couldn't believe how quickly he was growing up.

"And with a snap of my fingers, five years flew by…. Happy Birthday Bingo #MorningSnuggle #5YearsOldToday," she wrote.

Kate has previously opened up about co-parenting with Muse singer Matt, and revealed that she felt they were in a "better" situation since their decision to split.

The couple called off their engagement in 2014

"I do believe that it is better to have two people as parents that are truly happy in themselves for [the sake of] their children," she told Red magazine. "If they can't sustain that at home and if it's affecting their family, then they have to look at their relationship."

She added: "Of course, the goal is always to stay together. Matt and I really worked on it together and we came to a point where we realised that we are really better as friends and that is a healthier approach for our kids. And we can see the results."

The couple, who got engaged in April 2011, surprised fans when they confirmed thatthey had ended their four-year-relationship in 2014. "Kate and Matt have been separated for some time now," a representative for the actress said in a statement. "Despite this, they remain very close friends and committed co-parents."
