It's been a few years since it was first revealed that Ellen DeGeneres is related to the Duchess of Cambridge, née Kate Middleton – but some people still don't take her royal link seriously. "Everyone thinks I'm joking, but I'm not,” the star - who is 15th cousin to Kate through their common ancestor Sir Thomas Fairfax - told the Daily Mail. "So, if we're related, we should start hanging out together."
The TV star continued: "I saw that picture of Prince George in his robe with President Obama and I'm like, 'I have a clothing line [ED by Ellen], I can give him clothes, I can make a special robe for him.' I don't know why they don't want to get in good with me because I'm like a gravy train for that kid."
Ellen offered to make a 'special robe' for Prince George because of the family connection
Ellen would no doubt be a big hit with William and Kate's eldest child; she is especially good with young children who appear on her hit chat show, and of course, is the voice of the beloved Pixar character Dory. Would she one day consider having children of her own with wife Portia de Rossi?
"People do ask me when I’m going to have kids myself," she said. "The thing is, I'm really good with them for small amounts of time, but anyone can be good at anything for small amounts of time. If someone has a snake on the show, I'm OK with it for five minutes, but I wouldn't want a snake for life. Not that I'm comparing kids to snakes, of course," she quickly added.
The star said she and wife Portia have decided not to have children
"Portia and I really discussed it," Ellen continued. "I always thought if we were going to have kids, we should adopt because there are so many children who need homes and we didn't need the ego thing of a child having to be part of her or me. But, in the end, we decided we wouldn't have kids. The important thing is that we really did think it through."
