Lady Gaga has released a statement following her split from fiancé Taylor Kinney. "Taylor and I have always believed we are soulmates. Just like all couples we have ups and downs and we have been taking a break," the 30-year-old singer confirmed on Instagram on Wednesday, sharing a black and white photo of the pair with their arms around each other.
"We are both ambitious artists, hoping to work through long distance and complicated schedules to continue the simple love we have always shared. Please root us on. We're just like everybody else and we really love each other."
Lady Gaga has shared a touching message regarding her split from Taylor Kinney
Earlier this month, Lady Gaga and Taylor sadly ended their engagement after five years together. The Chicago Fire actor had popped the question on Valentine's Day 2015, presenting the star with a beautiful heart-shaped Lorraine Schwartz engagement ring. "He gave me his heart on Valentine's Day and I said YES!" she later told fans on Instagram.
In recent weeks, however, Lady Gaga has been pictured out and about without her diamond band, prompting speculation their romance might be on the rocks. Taylor also celebrated his 35th birthday last week without his other half.
The couple started dating in July 2011 and got engaged last year
Speaking to the Daily Mail in January, Taylor admitted that they were yet to set a wedding date. "I'll leave that up to her, that's in her court!" he said. "We keep on, back and forth on dates, and I think it'll just be a surprise."
The couple started dating in July 2011 after meeting on the set of her music video for You And I. The singer has previously spoken about how supportive Taylor is of her career, telling The Times in 2014: "He's supportive of everything I do."
She added: "He loves me from the inside out, and he is completely blind to the way that I dress, my creative process as it is. He knows me as the Italian-American girl my mother and father gave birth to."
