Pippa Middleton will become a Lady after her marriage to James Matthews

July 21, 2016

Her sister is the Duchess of Cambridge but Pippa Middleton will receive her own title following her marriage to fiancé James Matthews. James is the heir to a vast Scottish property, which means that one day Pippa will become Lady Glen Affric, express.co.uk reports.

Her future father-in-law is David Matthews, the Laird of Glen Affric, who owns a 10,000 acre estate in the Scottish highlands that features a historic castle and a deer park. The Queen's grandmother Mary once stayed at the hunting lodge in the 19th century.

It has also been used by David Beckham when he filmed an advert for his Haig Club whiskey in 2014.

Nowadays the estate, which is located 15 miles from Loch Ness, is used by the Matthews family as a retreat from their London home. It can also be rented by members of the public to host hunting parties, with a three-night stay costing £11,880 for up to eight people.

David, a former mechanic, received his title when he bought the stunning property in 2008, although it is unlikely that he would actually use the title as a form of address as it was purchased with the estate.

James will inherit the title upon his father's death, although like David, he may not choose to formally use it.

In the future Pippa, as the heir's wife, would be able to use the courtesy title of Mrs Matthews of Glen Affric the younger, anywhere in the Commonwealth. She would then carry the title Lady Glen Affric when her father-in-law passes away.

Art historian Michael Reed told express.co.uk that the Matthews family tend to "keep to themselves" but "they know how to play the royal game". He added: "You've certainly got this Matthews family who own this huge baronial castle."
