Christina suffered two major tragedies in her life. She was just six-years-old when her father, businessman Hans Christian Knudsen, committed suicide, and then, almost 20 years later, she lost her step-father, millionaire industrialist Ole Tholstrup to alcoholism.
She described her close relationship with Sir Roger in an interview with the Evening Standard in 2014, crediting the actor with helping her develop a positive outlook on life. "I think I didn't know myself that well when I got married and felt pressurised by society," she said. "I wasn't yet able to listen to who I was and what I really wanted.
"I was in difficult relationships, but all that changed when my mother met Roger."
