David Bowie's son Duncan Jones has welcomed a bouncing baby boy with his wife Rodene Ronquillo, and paid tribute to his late father by naming his newborn son Stenton David Jones.

The Warcraft director took to Twitter to announce the arrival of his son, writing: "Stenton David Jones. Born July 10th, exactly six months after his grandad made room for him. Love you both so."

Duncan gave his baby son the middle name 'David' after his father

He then accompanied the caption with several love heart emojis, and a drawing of a man holding a baby and saying: "isn't he just perfect" but who is then held up by another man who says: "you're too…heavy for this."

The new parent announced the news that his wife was expecting their first child back in February with another picture which showed a pregnant woman, captioning the tweet: "1 month since dad died today. Made this card for him at Christmas. Due in June. Circle of life. Love you, granddad."

Although David passed away after a battle with cancer in January, Duncan revealed to E! News that he told his dad the baby's gender over Christmas, and he was able to say his goodbyes. He said: "When we found out what the gender of our baby was going to be, we were able to get the doctor to write it on a card without us seeing it. Then I got to spend Christmas with my dad and he actually told us what the gender was going to be.

"We found the time to do all of the family stuff that we wanted to do, got a chance to spend some time together, have our talks and say our goodbyes and things like that."
