Stop everything: Tom Hiddleston has finally joined Instagram! The actor posted his first snap on the picture sharing app on Tuesday, giving Marvel fans a sneak peek at his Thor character Loki. Alongside the photo of him in costume, Tom, 35, simply wrote: "He's back!"

In less than 24 hours, The Night Manager star Tom has clocked up more than half a million followers – but hasn't added anybody to his own newsfeed yet, not even girlfriend Taylor Swift. And it looks like they're both playing it cool, with 26-year-old still yet to press the follow button.

Tom Hiddleston's first Instagram post was a treat for Marvel fans

One person who did welcome Tom to Instagram was his The Avengers co-star Robert Downey Jr, who appeared to poke some harmless fun at his relationship with singer Taylor. Sharing a snap of Tom wearing his now infamous 'I heart T.S' vest, Robert added: "Join me in welcoming the biggest T.Stark fan of them all to Instagram! @twhiddleston."

Robert was referencing his own character in The Avengers, Tony Stark, and his joke went down well with fans – gaining more than 240,000 likes.

He and girlfriend Taylor Swift aren't following each other yet

Tom and Taylor went public with their romance in June and have been inseparable ever since. But eagle-eyed fans noticed the couple seem to have taken some time apart recently, with each of them focusing on their individual projects.

However sources close to the couple insist there's no trouble in paradise, with an insider telling The Sun: "They are 100 per cent still together. They're focusing on work at the moment but will be back in each other's company soon."
