Melanie Griffith has posted a sweet birthday message to her ex-husband Antonio Banderas, a day after he wished her many happy returns. The couple, who have remained close friends after they ended their 18-year marriage back in 2014, celebrate their birthday just one day apart.
Melanie wished Antonio a happy 56th birthday on Wednesday with a sweet throwback snap of the pair at the Univision's 8th Annual Premios Juventud Awards back in 2011. The couple were clearly having fun posing during the evening as Melanie leans on the Puss in Boots actor. She captioned the photo: "Happy Birthday to my ruggedly handsome ex husband @antoniobanderasoficial. I will always love you."
Earlier this week the actor also wished his ex-wife a happy birthday after sharing a snap of them with their daughter, Stella, writing: "Happy birthday Melanie. A loving hug from Marbella."
The pair have remained on good terms since their divorce was finalised last year, and their daughter recently revealed how close the two were after sharing a photo of the pair comfortably sitting with each other, simply captioning the photo: "Fam."
At the time of their separation, the couple made it clear that they were determined to remain close, releasing a joint statement which read: "We have thoughtfully and consensually decided to finalise our almost twenty years marriage in a loving and friendly manner honouring and respecting each other, our family and friends and the beautiful time we have spent together - Melanie & Antonio."

The Hawaii Five-O actress recently opened up about her divorce in a candid interview with People magazine, where she said: "It's an interesting time. It's just sort of nice. My kids are all great. They're beautiful people.
"I'm single, and lonely, and bored, and confused – but then at the same time, totally curious. It's almost like I have to throw myself out of the nest."
