August 17, 2016

Calvin Harris' has kept his crown as the highest-paid DJ in the world. The 32-year-old came out top in a new list complied by Forbes magazine, for the fourth consecutive year in a row. The Scottish musician earned an impressive $63million (£48m) in the last year, dwarfing his nearest contender, Dutch DJ Tiesto, who was named second on the list with an estimated $38million (£29m).

David Guetta came in third place, having made $28million (£21m) in the past 12 months, followed by Zedd with $24million and Steve Aoki with $23.5million.

According to Forbes, Calvin made the majority of his money thanks to his lucrative residencies in Las Vegas, where he reportedly earned more than $400,000 per appearance. His earnings have dropped slightly since last year, with the star topping the 2015 list with an estimated $66million.

The figures include DJing fees, and also earnings from live shows, merchandise, endorsements, recorded music and outside business ventures. This year's list covers the period June 2015 to June 2016.

It's been Calvin's personal life, rather than his career which has dominated headlines in recent months, thanks to his romance with Taylor Swift, and their subsequent split. The couple ended their 15-month relationship back in June – and just a few weeks later, Taylor was pictured kissing her new love interest Tom Hiddlestone.

While they initially seemed to have parted on amicable terms, Calvin later opened up to fans on Twitter about the break-up suggesting it was Taylor who left him and stating that she had "controlled the media" during their split.

He then publicly criticised the US singer when she later decided to claim writing credit for his hit song This Is What You Came For. "Hurtful to me at this point that her and her team would go so far out of their way to try and make ME look bad at this stage though," he tweeted last month. "I figure if you're happy in your new relationship you should focus on that instead of trying to tear your ex bf down for something to do."
