US singer Chris Brown arrested for 'pointing gun at woman'

Singer Chris Brown has been arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon after allegedly threatening a woman with a gun. Beauty queen Baylee Curran made an emergency 911 call in the early hours of Tuesday morning stating that Chris had pointed the gun at her head during a visit to his home. Police then went to the singer's property but were denied access, leading to a nine-hour stand-off between Chris and the authorities which came to an end when the police obtained a search warrant and arrested the singer.

Ms Curran told the LA Times that she and a friend had gone to Chris' home on Monday evening, and that she had been admiring the diamond necklace of a man who had been showing off his jewellery, when the man suddenly became angry and told her to back away. It was then that 27-year-old Chris pulled out his gun, pointed it at her face and told her to get out, she said.

Ms Curran fled and called the police, who went to the property but were denied access and had to wait for a judge to approve a search warrant before going inside to look for a weapon.

Chris refused to come out of his home during the nine-hour standoff, and only emerged when his lawyer arrived on the scene. Police said about half a dozen people had been escorted out of the residence and would be interviewed.

Speaking to Extra after the event, Ms Curran says she has witnesses who can back up her story. "I fled down his driveway," she said. "I went to the left side of the street, went up a couple of houses, was running. That's when the neighbours heard the commotion and saw me out there and then called the police, and that is when I called the police.”"

She told the outlet that before police arrived she "saw a black jeep come down from Chris' driveway toward where I was, where the neighbour was. I went underneath the nearest vehicle... there I was, literally crawled underneath the car... hid behind the tires, and the jeep came up to the area of that vehicle, turned around and went back up the driveway."

Chris has a conviction for a 2009 assault on his then-girlfriend Rihanna

The model - who insists that she's not speaking out for publicity – also had a message for Chris: "I would say to Chris, be the good person that I know you are. He knows what he has done… I would say, just come out with the truth, because I’m sure it will come out one day anyway."

In 2009, Chris assaulted his then-girlfriend Rihanna, and in 2015 he finished a length term of probation, community service and domestic violence classes. In an Instagram video from inside his house on Tuesday, he denied the latest allegations.

"I don't sleep half the damn night I just wake up to all these ... helicopters, choppers is around, police out there at the gate. What I do care about is you are defacing my name and my character and integrity," he said, stating he had done nothing wrong and criticising police actions.

"I don't care y'all going to stay playing with me like I'm the villain out here, like I'm going crazy ... good luck when you get the warrant or whatever you need to do. You're going to walk right up in here and you're going to see nothing you idiots," he added.
