New father John Legend makes sweet music for charity

September 3, 2016

Becoming a father has certainly touched a chord with musician John Legend. He admits that since daughter Luna came into the world he has become a changed man, for the better.

Talking at the global launch of (Belvedere) RED in New York where guests included actress Lupita Nyong'o and singer Estelle, the Ordinary People singer said: "I'm a brand new father and I'm learning every day.

The star opened up about his daughter

"I think it focuses you, it makes you prioritise what's important. It also makes you think about what kind of world she's is going to live in, and how you can make that world better."

The campaign in conjunction with Bono’s charity Red, gives 50 per cent of profits of the limited edition Belvedere vodka bottle decorated by South African artist Esther Mahlangu, to the Global Fund in their fight to reverse HIV/AIDS in Africa.

John, who performed his new single Love Me Now from his upcoming album, added: "I would love for Luna to grow up in a world where no-one has to die from AIDS, I think that would be a beautiful thing and I think the RED campaign has helped us make progress so we can get to the point where no-one has to die from that disease.

"We shared one of the songs from the album with Belvedere, it's called Love Someone and it's about not waiting until tomorrow to love someone, it's appropriate to this campaign - everything about love in the broader sense about giving, philanthropy."
