There were mixed emotions from some celebrity parents on Tuesday as their children returned to school for the start of a new term. Coleen and Wayne Rooney, Elton John and Amanda Holden were among the famous faces who documented the school run on social media, sharing photos of their children dressed in school uniform.
Wayne Rooney told fans he was a "proud dad" as his sons Kai and Klay returned to school. Sharing photos of the boys in their grey and yellow uniforms complete with an adorable school cap, the England football wrote: "Proud dad this morning. First day back at school for my boys."

His wife Coleen also shared a photo collage of the boys on Instagram, including a fun snap of Kai poking his tongue out while Klay grins beside him.
"Kai & Klay ready for their first day back at school," she captioned the photo, adding a heart emoticon.
Elton John shared a photo of Zachary and Elijah on their way to school
They were not the only couple feeling proud of their children; Elton John and David Furnish also posted a photo of their sons Elijah and Zachary walking side-by-side in matching school uniform.
"Back to school @davidfurnish #ShareTheLove," Elton wrote.
Amanda Holden said she was "a mess" on her daughter's first day of school
Meanwhile Amanda Holden admitted she was "a mess" as she got a little emotional while seeing her daughter Hollie Rose off for her first day of school. Taking a photo of the four-year-old's feet in her school shoes, the Britain's Got Talent judge told fans: "First day of school. Mama is a mess! :(."
Other stars to mark the occasion included England footballer Jack Wilshere and singer Michelle Heaton.
