Masterchef contestant Helen Barker has died aged 38. The keen cook was found at her home in Trowbridge at 9.07am on Thursday morning, and a man has been arrested in connection with the death. Her family paid tribute to the "talented artist" following the tragedy, and has thanked the public for their support.

The cause of death is not as of yet known as the port mortem results were inconclusive, with police  confirming that more tests will have to take place. However, a 78-year-old man who was reportedly known to Helen has been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and actual bodily harm, and is currently released on bail.

Helen's family have paid tribute to her, writing: "The whole family have been left devastated by Helen's untimely death. She was much loved and will be greatly missed by us all.

"She was a bright young woman who, in addition to her attainment of a BSc degree in Dental Technology at the University of Wales Institute Cardiff, was a talented artist and an accomplished cook, having appeared on the Masterchef television programme. It will be difficult to come to terms with her loss, but this is being aided by the kind words and messages of support we have received and for which we are very grateful.

"We would like to kindly ask that the media allow us time to grieve in peace."
