Sharon Osbourne has addressed her month-long leave of absence from The Talk in May of last year, revealing that she left because she suffered "a complete and utter breakdown".  "I woke up in Cedars-Sinai Hospital and for probably three days I knew nothing. I couldn't think, I couldn't talk, I could do nothing. My brain just shut down on me," the 63-year-old revealed on the daytime talk show on Monday.

"I was doing too much of everything. My brain just totally fused and I just couldn't cope with anything," she said.

Sharon Osbourne has revealed she suffered "a complete and utter breakdown" last year

"My family put me into a facility and in this facility, they diagnose you, there's therapists, psychiatrists, and you do a lot of group therapy. And I found for me that the group therapy was the best thing that I could do because there were several people suffering with that I was suffering."

Sharon continued: "My head was like a whirlpool going round and round and round, and not one thought would stay in."

One year on, the star is back to work and feeling positive about the future. "I feel now that I have got a good grip on the problem that I have and I'm in control, it doesn't control me," she said. "So I'm in control of the condition."

Sharon and husband Ozzy recently reconciled after a brief split

Sharon, who briefly split with husband Ozzy Osbourne earlier this year, also shared a touching message for anyone else dealing with depression. "I want you to realise that there is so much help out there, whether it is your medication, whether it is you need to go into group therapy, or you need to go and learn some spirituality to ground you, to centre your body, your soul," she commented. "There is so much help out there…. It's nothing to be ashamed about. It really isn't."
