Gail Porter has revealed how a lack of confidence caused her to develop anorexia, as she made her first TV appearance since undergoing life-changing breast reduction surgery. "I started dieting because I wanted to get rid of the breasts, because I was so conscious of them and then it went from everywhere else," she told the Loose Women panel on Tuesday.
"And anorexia is a mental thing as well, so I got it into my head that I constantly wanted to diet, and then these breasts weren't going away, and I remember ending up in hospital because I was so tiny, and the doctor said to me, 'God, you’ve got really big boobs for someone with anorexia', and that was it, it just got even worse."

Gail Porter has opened up about her battle with anorexia
Gail, 45, revealed that her struggle with her body image started at a young age. "I was the first person at school to get boobs, first person at school to have a period, first person at school to have a moustache. I felt like I had three heads, I was like, 'Hello, I’m up here…'" she said.
The star also admitted that her 90s modelling shots were airbrushed to make her look more petite on top. "I was very self-conscious," she said, "I'm quite a nervous person anyway. I covered it very well, but I always looked much bigger than I was because I had quite wee legs, and this huge chest…"
The star also spoke candidly about her breast reduction surgery during her appearance on Loose Women
It's been two months since Gail underwent surgery to reduce her breasts from a 28JJ to 28C, after years of suffering with chronic back pain. The mum-of-one, who has had alopecia since 2005, said of her decision to go public: "I shared the hair thing, and I thought, you know what, I'll share this as well, and it was surprising the amount of women who were on Twitter going, 'You'll never believe, my back is killing me!'"
